As part of the European project STEAMDIVE, funded by the Erasmus+ programme and launched in February 2023, the final phase is now underway with the organisation of multiplier events designed to share the project’s results and the good practices developed throughout the initiative. Running until June 2025, the project brings together an international partnership of organisations and educational institutions from several countries: the Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas and OLOKLIROSI – Training Agency, both based in Crete (Greece), Tehnicka Skola (Serbia), Danmar Computers (Poland), MUSEV – Foundation for Health, Social Support, Education and Solidarity, and the Agrupamento de Escolas de Atouguia da Baleia (Portugal).
On 7 May 2025, EB 2,3 School of Atouguia da Baleia hosted the STEAMDIVE multiplier event, in close collaboration with the CFAE Centro-Oeste training centre, gathering around 60 participants, including teachers from various regional schools and members of the local administration.
The school’s headteacher, Professor Sara Guardado da Silva, welcomed the participants and emphasised the importance of international cooperation and inclusive education in today’s school environment. In her opening remarks, she thanked the project partners, teachers, and members of the local community, underlining the school’s active role in promoting innovative and socially aware educational practices.
The event began with a general presentation of the SteamDive project, outlining its main objectives – notably, the promotion of respect for diversity, the development of social inclusion, and the integration of STEAM areas (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) into the school curriculum. During this introductory session, attendees also had the chance to explore the innovative curriculum developed through the international partnership, which is based on an interdisciplinary and learner-centred approach. The curriculum promotes methodologies that encourage empathy, creativity, critical thinking, and collaborative work.
Throughout the day, participants engaged in four thematic workshops, each addressing a different dimension of the project: Lenses, Light, Inclusion – A reflective space focused on racial diversity in the school environment, aimed at encouraging more inclusive pedagogical practices. The session featured the screening of the film “Bridges that Unite Us”, produced within the project and performed by students. Mirror of Diversity – This workshop explored the concept of diversity through technology, showing how artificial intelligence and computer vision can be applied in education to promote inclusion in an experimental and visually interactive way. Creative Camera – A hands-on workshop where participants built and experimented with handmade cameras, combining knowledge of optics (Physics) and creativity to explore diverse perspectives in learning. Mat2Cubism – This session introduced an innovative digital tool that integrates art, technology and diversity, enabling teachers to approach STEAM content through a lens of equity and inclusion.
Aiming to promote social inclusion and nurture in students a deeper respect for diversity, the STEAMDIVE project has focused on developing an innovative curriculum and digital educational tools. The multiplier event offered a unique opportunity to showcase the project’s impact and to inspire other educational communities to follow the same path towards a more inclusive and socially responsible school environment
